Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about training format, safety, equipment, pricing, and what happens after you book.
Before You Book
How much does personal training with Oren cost?
Rates can depend on the session format and location. Contact Oren for current pricing before you commit; the initial consultation is free and does not require a package purchase.
How often should I meet with a personal trainer?
Frequency depends on your goals, recovery, schedule, and what you can practice between appointments. Many clients start with one or two coached sessions per week, then adjust after Oren sees how they respond.
What happens during the free first session?
You will discuss goals, training history, current limitations, preferred location, and scheduling. Oren can then observe a few comfortable baseline movements and explain what an appropriate starting plan would look like.
Should I get medical clearance before starting?
Ask a licensed healthcare professional when you have new or worsening symptoms, unexplained pain, dizziness, a recent surgery or injury, or medical restrictions. Personal training is fitness coaching and does not replace medical evaluation or physical therapy.
What is the difference between normal muscle soreness and pain I should report?
Mild muscle fatigue or soreness can occur after unfamiliar activity. Stop and speak up about sharp, sudden, worsening, radiating, or joint-specific pain, dizziness, chest symptoms, or anything that feels unsafe.
How much space and equipment do I need for in-home training?
A small clear area is usually enough for stepping, reaching, chair work, bands, and light resistance. Oren brings portable equipment and will adapt the plan to the space after checking that it is safe.
Can personal training continue the work I started in physical therapy?
After your physical therapist or physician clears you for independent exercise, training can help you keep building general strength, mobility, and consistency. It does not provide rehabilitation treatment or replace your clinician’s plan.
Can a family member help arrange training for an older adult?
Yes. A family member can help start the conversation and coordinate logistics, while the client’s goals, comfort, consent, and appropriate healthcare guidance remain central to the plan.
Personal Training & Functional Strength
What happens during the first personal training session?
We review your goals, movement history, and any joint sensitivities, followed by a gentle baseline movement assessment to establish your starting plan.
Where do personal training sessions take place?
Sessions are offered as mobile in-home coaching within the service area or online coaching. Oren can confirm the practical option during your free consultation.
How quickly will I see results from personal training?
There is no honest universal timeline. Progress depends on your starting point, attendance, recovery, daily habits, and goals, so Oren tracks practical changes and adjusts the plan instead of promising a deadline.
Do I need to be fit before I start?
No. The starting exercises and pace are selected from what you can do comfortably now, then progressed as your control, strength, and confidence improve.
Mobility, Balance & Flexibility
How does mobility training differ from regular exercise?
Mobility work combines usable range of motion with control, strength, and balance. Flexibility describes how far tissues can lengthen; mobility asks whether you can control that range during real movement.
Can mobility training help with tight hips and lower back stiffness?
It may help some people move more comfortably by improving control and gradually exploring usable range. Persistent, worsening, or unexplained hip or back symptoms should be evaluated by a licensed healthcare professional.
Is balance training safe if I already feel unsteady?
Balance drills should be scaled to your current ability and performed with stable support nearby. Tell Oren about falls, dizziness, neuropathy, vision changes, or medications that affect balance, and ask your clinician for guidance when appropriate.
How often should I practice mobility exercises?
Short, comfortable practice can be useful between coached sessions, but frequency and intensity should match your recovery and medical guidance. Oren can give you a small routine you can perform with control.
Joint Health & Chronic Pain Fitness
Is exercise safe if I have arthritis or back pain?
Many people with arthritis or persistent back discomfort can benefit from appropriately scaled activity, but personal training does not diagnose or treat a medical condition. Ask your healthcare professional for clearance when symptoms are new, worsening, unexplained, or medically restricted.
What if I experience pain during a session?
We stop and reassess rather than pushing through sharp, sudden, or worsening pain. Oren can change the movement or end the activity, and symptoms that need medical evaluation are referred back to an appropriate clinician.
Will exercise cure my chronic pain?
No cure can be promised. The fitness goal is to build capacity, confidence, and useful movement within appropriate limits while your healthcare professionals manage diagnosis and treatment.
What should I share before a joint-friendly session?
Share relevant diagnoses, restrictions, recent changes, movements that aggravate symptoms, and guidance from your physician or physical therapist. Do not withhold symptoms that could change what is safe.
Post-Rehab & Injury Recovery
When can I begin post-rehab personal training?
Begin only after the appropriate clinician clears you for independent exercise and provides any restrictions. A discharge date alone does not tell a trainer which movements are appropriate.
How is post-rehab fitness different from physical therapy?
Physical therapy evaluates and treats injury or impairment. Post-rehab personal training begins after clearance and focuses on general fitness, progressive strength, mobility, and consistency without diagnosing or treating the condition.
What information should I bring from my physical therapist?
Bring written restrictions, recommended movements, discharge guidance, and any instructions about load, range of motion, or symptoms that require follow-up.
In-Home Personal Training
How much room do I need for in-home personal training?
A small clear area is usually enough, provided you can step, reach, sit, and change position safely. Oren confirms the usable space and adapts the session rather than requiring a permanent home gym.
What equipment do I need to own?
None is required to begin. Oren brings portable equipment selected for the session and can also evaluate equipment you already own.
Is in-home personal training private?
Yes. The session takes place one-on-one in the agreed training area. You can discuss household access, pets, parking, stairs, or other privacy and safety details before the first visit.
Does in-home training cost more than online coaching?
Session format and travel can affect pricing. Ask Oren for the current rate for your address and preferred format before scheduling ongoing sessions.
Senior Fitness & Active Aging
Is this suitable if I have not worked out in a long time?
Yes. Oren starts with comfortable baseline movements and progresses only after seeing how you respond. Medical clearance may be appropriate after a long inactive period or when health concerns are present.
Can family members schedule training for a parent?
Yes. Family can help coordinate logistics and share relevant information with the client’s consent, while the older adult’s goals and comfort guide the session.
Can senior fitness training prevent falls?
Strength and balance work can address important physical risk factors, but no trainer can guarantee that a fall will not happen. Falls, dizziness, medication effects, vision changes, and home hazards should also be discussed with healthcare professionals.
What kinds of movements are used with older adults?
Sessions may include supported balance, chair rises, stepping, carrying, light resistance, posture, and mobility work. The exact selection depends on the client’s ability, goals, restrictions, and response.
